Next Duty Station was Sheppard AFB, Wichita Falls, Texas
When we arrived at Sheppard AFB we were met by a group of young airmen who were students just like us except they had leadership jobs assisting with the inbounding and barracks supervision of the new guys. After a few weeks at Sheppard, I was selected to be a Green Rope leader.

My best friend at Sheppard was Airman Jim Dandy. Jim and I have been friends for over 50 years. We see each other from time to time. He's now Dr. Jim Dandy with his practice in Savannah, Ga.

Met a guy in Crystal Springs who was a radio announcer at WMDC. We become friends and he got me a part time job at the station as an announcer.

On my way to my next duty station I married the girl of my dreams. We've now been married 53 years. Atlantic Highlands AFS was located just across the bay from NY City. Com Center/Switch Board Operator for a little over a year. I had just over a year left before my 4 year tour was to be over when I got orders for South East Asia.
